Moccasins

There are several different styles of moccasins ranging from plain to highly decorative - all of which are made from top quality hide. The sole is what I call a "peel off sole" - that is to say, when the sole has worn out it can just be pulled off and the old sole can be used as a pattern for a new one. I have many pairs of moccasins and boots that I have done this with and they have lasted many years I use a normal type of glue such as 'UHU' which is easily available worldwide. Having a peel off sole protects the main sole of the moccasin.

Many designs of beadwork are available, these are some examples:

These are standard plain moccasins which are made especially attractive by the colour tone variations in the leather. These moccasins are made of grey chromed cowhide, with a vamp of soft double-thickness goatskin. They are tied with cowhide lace. The cowhide sole protects the moccasin and when worn out can easily be peeled off and replaced, giving many years of service.

These are a ladies' version of the green moccasin in thick dark blue cowhide. The beadwork design is of the sacred thunderbird which features heavily in native American tradition. The moccasins are lined with soft white rabbit fur for added warmth and comfort.

The design of centre-seam moccasins is at least 10,000 years old. Archæologists have found that this style of moccasin had the greatest distribution in the times of our ancestors. it is made of soft supple cowhide - suede side out. I have found them to be the most comfortable ever. The peel-off sole comes as standard. they can be lined in pure wool or with a sheepskin insole.
